A translational resource

Custom answers for questions routine diagnostics can’t address.

Housed within the Kerns Lab, the ISU Andrology Analytics Lab runs advanced, custom sperm quality and fertility assays not routinely available through third-party diagnostic labs. We also design custom trials around specific andrology questions.

What we offer

From sample to actionable signal.

01

Advanced sperm quality assays

Go beyond standard motility and morphology with tailored cellular and molecular measurements.

02

Custom fertility trials

Collaborative study design and execution built around the biological or production question at hand.

03

Image-based phenotyping

High-throughput imaging and flow cytometry create quantitative, cell-level fertility profiles.

04

Industry collaboration

Flexible fee-for-service engagements connect university capabilities with real-world challenges.

How projects begin

A collaborative path from question to answer.

  1. 01

    Define the question

Tell us about your samples, goals, and decision context.

  2. 02

    Design the approach

We identify the right assays, controls, and analytical strategy.

  3. 03

    Generate insight

Our team executes the work and helps interpret the findings.

Fluorescent plate reader and pipetting robot

Precise. Reproducible. Scalable.

Technology built for rigorous analysis.

Automated liquid handling, fluorescence measurement, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, and molecular biology methods support custom workflows from initial screening through deeper mechanistic studies.
